i've probably never had a non-frankenstein vegetable if i had to guess, so i wondered if any of you do this. |

Hybrids are GMO the old fashioned way: cross breeding. Have given up on heirloom varieties aside from the occasional experiment. Have never seen a GMO seed or plant for a vegetable garden other than hybrids - don't think they exist or are sold. One disadvantage of hybrids is that seeds from them beyond the first generation have a low germination rate and plants revert back to the breeding stock, so it is hard to keep going indefinitely in apocalypse mode.
