vaguely yes. not visually but i recall more meaningful settings. no one interacted with anything but their immediate environment, the people in it, even if they had a book or newspaper in their face or were watching tv. it didn't matter what a rube across the country thought about the days national political horse race, what mattered was in front of you.

yeah i mean, that's a common psychological explanation for it. there's probably some truth there.

but there are some things that i know i haven't done in a long time. i can remember actually racing out of bed to greet the day multiple times as a kid/teen. i haven't done that in forever. now i just wake up and think "alright, what kind of bullshit do i have to take care of until i can briefly relax before doing it all over again?".

i don't hate life but i'm almost never excited to wake up.
