Pound for pound, day in and day out, the Puget Sound/Cascades/Olympics/Seattle area struck me as the nicest. My survey includes Kalispell/Whitefish Montana, as well as the Shenandoah Valley Blue Ridge Mountains, in both of which areas I've spent considerable time. I grew up in New England and I know every corner of it. Nothing touches the Seattle area.

I've seen some pretty amazing things in the high desert in Arizona, the hills around the Delaware River Gap, or the stunning beauty of my hometown in the Santa Monica Mountain range. I've seen sunsets you wouldn't believe traveling the intracoastal by boat between Savannah and Jacksonville, or beauty beyond the limitation of the English language on Sullivan's Island. I've surfed into the night in Waikiki, with Diamond Head in the background. I've lived in the rolling hills north of San Francisco, with the grape growers being the only break in the golden waves of brush basking in chilly sunlight of Northern CA. I've hiked the Smoky Mountains and enjoyed tea at the Grove Park Inn, enjoying views that are life changing. I could go on, describing the different amazing places in this country are like describing the differences between various beautiful women.
