Been trying to cut down to 6 or 7% just to see what's it's like. It's so hard. I measure my percent body fat every morning using the tape measure test, and I have gotten under 8 maybe once. I mainly just bounce around between 8 and 10.

PROTIPS for getting down from 35% to 15%? I can't seem to shake off my love for carbs and sugary desserts. No joke. I would probably pay $1500 to anyone who can legit get me in the 15% range.

First, you need to count your daily calories and figure out how many you're burning per day. You can't manage what yiucant measure.

To drop that far, you will have to create a big calorie deficit. Start exercising, even if you're not doing anything impressive. What's important is consistency. This will increase the number of calories burned.

But most of it is about limiting the calories that you take in. Not a lot of easy answers here. You have to accept that you won't get to enjoy the junk food that you love as much for a while.

Switch to diet drinks from regular sodas. Drinking calories doesn't reduce your hunger, so it's possible to take in a huge amount of calories if you're not careful.

Get a sense of what foods are calorie dense and what foods are calorie sparse.

You can just Google the calorie ounts of bfoods before you eat them.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. They have very few calories and take up lots of room in your stomach. They also have lots of vitamins and minerals.

Measure your percent body fat frequently. I do it every day. The tape measure test is not perfect, but it's easy and better than nothing. Once you start making progress, you will get excited and build up momentum.

When I started trying to be healthy, I set out to have a calorie deficit of 2000 calories per day. I lost about 1% body fat per day for the first few days of calorie counting. After a few months, I had gotten into the low teens (from about 25% body fat), and I could resume eating some junk food. But I still measured my percent body fat every day and cut back if I was gaining. It was hard, especially when I was hungry in the evenings and really wanted to eat more. But I just thought about my body and quoted Full Metal Jacket: I must master it as I must master myself. My life has gotten so much better ever sine I got into shape.

in my case, my life has not gotten better at all since getting into shape. For unrelated reasons it's gotten a lot worse, but getting into shape hasn't changed a thing for the positive, other than being proud of myself for doing it

no girls throw themselves at me but this is due to my height. Obviously working out doesn't change that.

I think my dress has improved but that's probably just due to better money and awareness as I got older and started being in professional environments.

First and foremost, a greater sense of well-being. More confidence, more pride in myself, a sense of being in control of my life, an absence of fear that I'm just drifting.

I used to suffer from serious heart burn. That stopped the day I quit sugar-sweetened drinks.

I sleep better. Quitting caffeine was also part of this.

Career has gotten better, although part of this is just the passage of time.

Success with women has spiked off the charts, although there are other factors at work there.

I look younger and get treated differently. People used to assume that I was the father of one of my siblings. That stopped. A few months ago, I was at a bar where some 30-something frat bros were having a reunion. One of them started talking to me and was trying to reminisce about the good ol' days when he was in school and give me some advice. Then he asked how old I was. It turned out that I was several years older than him. It was a really sweet moment.

A few inches over 6'. In response to one of your other questions, I have to note that women usually don't just throw themselves at me (although it does happen). I usually still have to put in the work. But they're more receptive.

I did most of my initial weight loss from December to March of a few years ago. When I saw my friends at the beach the next spring, the difference was obvious. One chick who had always been cool towards me came up and hugged me. Another openly said, "Winter's been good to you." It was awesome.

YMMV but when I attempted to get down to unflexed 6-pack levels, which I believe was right around 10% or just under, I had to really reduce calories and I felt generally low energy, objectively much lower sex drive, and just not myself. I stayed there for about 6 months and it didn't get any better. There's a lot of research about what significant caloric restriction does to your T levels.

Sitting around 12-14% is where I have the best mix of looking decent and also feeling good.
