worst is hard to say. with a lot of them, I can't tell if they were supposed to be obnoxious by design (david, andrea) or they were just stupid character concepts. i guess i'd go with brandon. i think we're supposed to like him and think he's a wholesome dude trying to learn from his surroundings, but he's really just a dense, judgmental, self righteous shit stick

brandon was great in the beginning in high school, but then got steadily worse. he was like kelly in that regard.
for me the best was Valerie. she basically saved the show in its 5th season after brenda left and she was a great femme fatale. Dylan probably runner up.
worst characters who were in the opening credits were by far matt durning and gina kincaid. if you don't count them, then i'd say donna in the first half of the series was worthless, while kelly in the 2nd half of the series was the worst.
most underrated, probably claire arnold or Jim&Cindy Walsh
most overrated 100% Kelly |

It is extraordinarily hard for shows to handle a transition from HS to college, or college to work, or singles to family.
I think 90210 handled the transition from HS to college about as well as any show could have. They didn't do it in a hokey way like Boy Meets World where all the characters took on new roles in a different ecosystem. Instead they truly changed the entire basis of the show and it really worked as the college years were still pretty good. |
