Get into construction. There is a massive shortage in construction workers, somewhere in the neighborhood of 500k workers, which is not even takin into account any infrastructure bill that might get passed next year,

Product Manager. Apparently I was moving too slow. The job was more mundane than I thought it would be and was hard to motivate myself to do my best.

As a product manager, if your devs says a project will take 6 months, you commit to it being done in 3 months and then add some more features to it. OP probably didn't do that.

some of it was manual QA. Like 2-4 hours a day. My boss thought I should have gotten all that done in 1 day tops. But it drained the life out of me and made it hard to do other things well.. TBT this is probably an undergrad PM role that I kind of forced myself into...

How is this job 'semi-tech'? You're in charge of developing and maintaining a technological product, right? Does that make the job semi-tech? Explain.

These are my three options:

1) Do my own startup no matter how much BS it is. Spin it into PM type work.

2) Join a friend’s startup and try to do as much PM type work as I can.

3) Go to Cali and pound the pavement there

4) pound the pavement from where I am?

Most worried about reputational damage from being let go after just 6 months... Help guys!!

If your breathing is beginning to feel constricted and the walls in your world seem to be closing in around you, you can easily explain away why you separated from your employer after just six months, easily- bro, that's easy work.

Now, what should you do next? Start working for your friend's startup simple as that. You don't have to demonstrate one consistent career Arc, because you can always Rebrand yourself later as a "lifelong learner" e.g., you could plausibly say that you had an opportunity to develop skills while working for your friend that you would not have had the opportunity to develop had you stayed at the first place.

Don't play their little resume games those are for hoes and Boomers, scurrying around trying to line up the correct number of foil Stars on your piece of paper for them, when they had already a mind to give the job to someone else who would fit a demographic for them better, you know they'll be hiring in large part for a type of person rather than for a skill set, and there's nothing you'll be able to do about that.

Was the job before this one longer? One or two short stints are fine on a resume. In interviews, say it was a lay-off. You were at a startup, right? I’ve seen startups lay people off after only a few weeks on the job. It’s a chaotic world.

Not a lawyer but I think you’ll qualify for unemployment if you were fired for BS performance reasons but didn’t fuck anything else up. Btw, most performance firings are done to get rid of someone management doesn’t like and not because you’re a poor performer.

What should I do now guys? Should I try and learn python and go into python programming? What are my other option? I was a EE before and should I try to go into that again? I wasn’t too good at it to be honest. I am 35+ if that means anything. I am getting anxious.
