Michael Jackson's estate files $100M lawsuit against HBO to halt release of Leaving Neverland, saying sex abuse claims are a breach of 1992 contract the King of Pop signed with network
The estate of Michael Jackson is attempting to halt the release of the upcoming documentary Leaving Neverland, which is set to air on March 3 and 4
Jackson's estate is demanding $100 million, claiming that airing the doc would breach a 1992 non-disparagement clause signed by the King of Pop
The Dangerous World Tour aired on HBO, and at that time Jackson and the network signed an agreement with a non-disparagement clause
Because the movie suggests that Jackson sexually abused children on that tour, the estate argues it is in 'direct violation of the non-disparagement clause'
The filing also calls the two men at the center of the documentary, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, 'admitted perjurers'
HBO meanwhile is deemed 'irrelevant' and its president a 'failure' in lawsuit
