Is buying Amazon Fire stick worth it if you don't have cable? Alternatives?

Chromecast is definitely better. A workout in your situation is to use a dual band router (you may already have one) and make everybody else use the 2.4ghz network while you use the 5ghz one. There's also apps for youtube etc Chromecast used to have issues (possibly intentional from either side) playing Amazon Prime videos |
