I suspect BTS is largely responsible for the wave of WGWAG I saw in Korea - there were 9 WGWAG couples I saw for each AGWWG couple and when I visited a university, almost all of the foreign students were European/Latino women, who I suspect are learning Korean due to their interest in k-pop.

however, the country is wildly enamored with the dokdo islands to a point I found amazing. the subway ads on the way from the airport broadcast entire documentaries about how the dokdo islands are Korean territory, while you see banners about the dokdo islands being Korean regularly hung on Korean office buildings in downtown seoul.

even the local daisos, a Japanese convenience store, amusingly stocks an entire aisle of Dokdo Islands = Korean merchandise, including pins, stickers, shirts, etc. etc.

The vast majority of museums of history I mentioned dedicated an entire exhibit to the Dokdo Islands, about equal to other events in Korean history, such as the Mongol invasions. the tv news regularly broadcasts the latest news from dokdo (there's usually almost none) and even relatively cosmopolitan Koreans have memorized all of the relevant arguments in favor of their claim.
