Yes, this theme park in the ROC makes fun of the violent, unstable history of their much poorer neighbors to the south. ROC moms take their kids here to make them grateful that they don't live in the DRC.

Rides cover the entire sad story of DRC history. You can tour a replica of a Belgian rubber plantation where native workers are brutally beaten to death and have their limbs hacked off for slacking or trying to run away. You can pretend to be a child soldier drafted to fight in one of the DRC's multiple civil wars. Be warned, though, that many of the arcade games and interactive rides are specifically designed so that the player can never win, because that's what life is like in the DRC.

For decades, the Somoza family ruled Nicaragua as a right-wing, pro-American dictatorship. When they were overthrown by leftist rebels in the late 70s, one of the things Nicaragua lost was a Somoza theme park, created to glorify Anastasio Somoza and his family and breed loyalty to the regime among kids. The Somoza theme park lay abandoned in the jungles for decades until they were rediscovered by an entrepreneur a few years ago. The new ownership decided to paste a Harry Potter theme on the abandoned park. All the statues of Anastasio Somoza had glasses and a forehead scar added to them. If you can get past the depictions of Harry Potter as a portly, balding man in military uniform, then there are actually some cool rides here, many of which would be illegal in the United States.

Universal and JK Rowling are of course suing to shut it down, but the case is hopelessly tied up in the inefficient Nicaraguan court system.

Built in the 1990's to keep kids off drugs, this park has rides that simulate the dangerous and ill effects of dozens of drugs, from weed to dope to goofballs, including many drugs your kids didn't know about previously.
