Surrounded by natural beauty, filled with historic architecture that gives the place character as well as parks and even beaches. Even the nice parts of Southern California are being ruined by homeless. I suggested we take our daughter to the park by the beach we used to go to frequently yesterday and my wife informed me it is overrun by homeless people now and there are needles everywhere. Just a tragedy what has happened to this state.

San Francisco at least looks like a real city, has some neat neighborhoods and great geography, but it's expensive and the people there suck.
I live in San Diego now and I love it. Much different than the rest of California. People are pretty down to earth here and family oriented. Small town vibe. And it's hard to overstate how great the weather is. If you like being outside, it's hard to find a better locale. There is white trash out east and lots of garbage south and east of the city, but the areas from Carlsbad to Downtown are solid. |

Oceanside. Marine Corps ghetto. Carlsbad. Bland suburban cookie-cutter faux-Spanish villa shit that transplants from midwestern states think is nice. Basically looks like Agrestic from early Weeds seasons. Encinitas. Hipster/surfer mecca. Was 180 a decade ago, now is slightly too much up its own ass. Solana Beach. Quiet, great ocean access, reasonably close to other shit, nice area. Del Mar. Wonderful, if you can afford it. (Carmel Valley - "Del Mar" for people that can't afford it, but more like Carlsbad lite.) La Jolla - Fuck off, transplant. Pacific Beach - 180 as fuck if you're a 22 year old SDSU 5th year senior. Pretty sweet otherwise too. Mission Beach - 180 as fuck if you're a 21 year old USD senior and Daddy pays the rent. 165 otherwise, because it's a pain in the ass to get in/out of. Clairemont/Bay Park/Bay Ho - not bad. You get more house than the beaches and are reasonably close to anywhere you want to go, which is anywhere else. Ocean Beach/Sunset Cliffs/Point Loma - 180 if you're a local bum or you work downtown and still want to chill next the the ocean at home. Mission Hills - 180 if you're gay and rich. Hillcrest - 180 if you're gay. North Park - runs the gamut from total shithole to beautiful and nice, within a couple blocks. Great access to downtown for work. South Park - same, but with more hipsters. Downtown SD/Little Italy - 180 if you're a mid-20s girl and Daddy still pays the rent. |
