My feeling on 1 major is twofold:
1. I don't have a problem with players who win one major getting into the HOF, but the resume has to be strong enough overall to support induction. That would include lots of titles, including Masters+ wins, and definitely more than one major final. I also think that era needs to be considered. Players who win a single major can be overrated in eras with no dominant players, but underrated in eras with dominant players. For example, I'm not sure Kraijeck was any better than David Ferrer.
2. I continue to believe that someone's HOF case cannot hinge on a single match victory. Perhaps this is a corollary to point #1, but one tough loss in a major final should not be the line item that keeps people in or out. |

why is brugera not in? is he the only man in recent years with 2+ slams who isn't in? pierce also not in is an odd case. |

Bruguera also has 3 major finals, won MC twice, finals at the Olympics.
Pierce got in this year, but was an absolute no-brainer. Majors on two different surfaces. 3 major finals on each of hc and clay. 5 masters wins, WTF finalist twice. Two doubles majors.

Among the one-major guys, major finals start to matter. Gaudio and Johansson clearly lucked into major wins.
Cilic otoh has been a very solid player and has made the finals of 3 different majors.
Delpo i think you could make a case for him either way. |

i'd basically say that he has poor consistency / longevity. only 3 year end finishes in the top 5 - and all 3 of those years are #5. only 5 years finishing in the top 10, period. |

I would say the poor consistency is a good one, also that he's too much of a one trick hc spic in an era of homogeneity. |

22 titles is also very solid. I think I'm coming around on him. Certainly his USO win was more impressive than Cilic's too. |
