I work with a lot of doctors and none of them think about this. Most of the epi folks are not impressive either (although they are acting like hot shit now).
Pandemics are treated like an earthquake; it'll be terrible but nobody acts like it's going to really happen on their watch. We did have a small unit that investigated Chinese 'pet' stores but they used local health codes if I recall. Not my thing at all. |

I worked on this project for a guy after I left, connecting with local jurisdictions in FEMA region X. Sometimes I'd set up walkthroughs and HHS would ghost me. There would be fire chiefs there. Totally embarrassing.
The programs run correctly usually had contractors. Lockheed Martin was point on the CHEMPACK protocol. Those are really scary. |

Fun fact. Emergency operations centers are pretty close quarters. Health is running it even tighter with people crammed at pods with laptops and a headset. I doubt we see any leadership touch the facility from here on out. |

They have detailed plans for medical surge (upping capacity bigly) and are not invoking or even acknowledging they exist. To do so would force them into the leadership position. In fact the bitch pissed me off so much I looked up how much they've received over the past ten years from HLS and they dropped almost two million funding a vulnerable populations planner (that's govt speak for diversity) and yet they have nothing to account for the homeless during a fucking pandemic. They're setting up a fully functional hospital and haven't been provided with their 'rules of engagement' for patients and their isn't a clear idea of the surge threshold (what % kicks them over etc.). All good when she got home but I still had to go to work. I slept one hour last night. I reported the issue to our safety officer and they don't give a fuck. The responders don't practice any of the social distancing shit either. They almost seemed upset my kid got tested too. Fucked up part is my wife hasn't left the house in over a week and I'm the only point of contact with the outside world.
