The number we really want to watch is the total number of deaths, specifically the number of new deaths by day, since the limited amount of tests available have been prioritized towards severe / critical cases. In other words this cohort or subgroup - the people dying - are being tracked reasonably well b/c this cohort isn't bumping up against testing limitations the way some young dude with flu symptoms going to his doctor is.
i.e. semi-log plot , we want to look not at the growth, but at the rate of change in growth. E.g. daily deaths in u.s. just went down two consecutive days.... |
