The last time this happened with AMDs "athlon" CPUs, Intel responded with the Core line of cpus that has dominated the market. Will have to see if intel rises to the occasion.

Intels r&d budget dwarfs AMDs by an order of magnitude. It's not certain, but I wouldnt be surprised if intel finds a way. |

I've recommended a ryzen CPU for every friend who's built a new PC. Think they're a great value.
But at the moment, Intel has an order of magnitude more resources, more assets than AMD. AMD couldn't supply enough CPUs even if every gamer and enterprise wanted to switch to AMD. |
