I am pretty high volume. We have handled over 2,500 cases now. Most of our settlements are 100K or less (probably almost half are 15K minimum policies). That doesn't even count the large ones we settle during the year 500K-1 million stuff. |

Paralegals to draft complaints/propound and respond to discovery, and we use contract lawyers to defend depos. I'm not sure exactly what I am going to do but it will basically be cutting to about 20/hours a week of work (that's basically not working for me). Here are some ideas I have:
(1) Sell my PI practice and work on my class action practice 20 hours/week.
(2) Hire a couple more people to help run my PI and class action practice and work 20 hours/week on them.
(3) Sell my PI practice and class action practice and do something different than law (maybe teach - which I really enjoy)
(4) Sell both firms and stop working for a year or two and figure out what I would really enjoy doing.
I don't have the personality to do nothing but I would like to cut real work to 15-20/hours a week. I definitely won't need the money in a couple years. Even with a decade of bad market returns, if I have 10 million plus a wife that works, I can pretty much do nothing for the rest of my life (even if my wife didn't work).
I would use that time to focus on hobbies and family. I would do more bjj, shoot more often, read more, travel more, play more video games, take my kids on long weekends at least once a month, do month long family trips (like renting an RV and going around the entire country), etc. |
