You can teach at a private school without much of a background. You’ll generally have to jump through some hoops if you want to teach at a public school, but you’ll get better benefits. The difficulty of landing a teaching job depends quite a bit on what subject you want to teach. If you’re willing to teach special ed in the inner-city, landing a teaching job will be easy. If you want to teach pe or social studies in an affluent district, it will be almost impossible.

Easy. Inner-city schools everywhere are dying for teachers. Most quit in 3 years. Huge shortages. Just find your state’s alternate teacher certification program. Enroll. Take the Praxis, go to the cert classes, etc. You’ll be teaching in a matter of months, while undergoing the certification process.

Make no mistake, though. The alternate certification is meant for low income public schools. If you want to teach at a good public school, it will take years of paying your dues. Also, the salary is absolute shit for beginners.
