Pinfish.

You are too small to eat, easily caught, and good for putting a hook through to catch larger fish.

I rate you as Menhaden.

Menhaden are great bait and can be caught by the dozens with a cast net and can be located by spotting diving birds. Most commercial frozen chum is mostly Menhaden due to Menhaden being a very oily fish.

Black Drum.

Black Drum are one of the most prized inshore game fish, although they do not school and are not very numerous. They can grow to be massive, over 90 lbs., though they are usually caught between the 5 - 15 lbs range. Fantastic eating although the larger ones are usually filled with worms.

When caught, you can hear a clicking sound in the fish. I don't know what it is but it'c creepy.

I've only caught Black Drum during the day but I understand they feed 24 hours a day. The big daddies hang in nearshore reefs and the smaller ones can be caught at jetties and near large structures (like big shipping docks).

Sea Trout.

Sea Trout are prized gamefish, and are some of the best tasting fish to be caught. A beautifully colored, torpedo shaped fish, they look similar to barracuda and the big sea trout are called Gators because of their toothy grin.

Bluefish.

Bluefish are basically ocean piranha, and can be difficult to hook due to their bony mouths. Once they bit down, their jaws have a hinge and it is impossible to get their mouths to unclamp, you have to cut their heads off and then cut their jaws off. Occasionally, surfers on the east coast who suffer smaller bites incorrectly say they were bitten by sharks, thinking that bluefish did nothing wrong.

Black Sea Bass.

BSB are not actually in the Bass family, they are groupers. Their meat is delicious and they are plentiful around the lowcountry, but you have to go at least 15 miles out before you start finding "keepers," which must be at least 13 inches. Black Sea Bass favorite food is Black Sea Bass, making them the assholes of the ocean.

Toadfish.

Toadfish are freaks of nature that make you wonder if God was high as fuck and depressed when he created them. They are so hideous that you can't even call them ugly (the word ugly seems to accurately describe them). They lurk under docks like the foul creatures they are.

Redfish.

The POTUS of inshore fish, Redfish (aka Red Drum) and prized for their fight as well as their being delicious. One of the best days a fisherman can have is catching a "slot" Red, meaning within in the legal limit of at least 13 inches but not exceeding 23 inches.

Yeah, my son came out too and caught a bunch of the rockfish himself (cast, retrieve, hook, reel), which is great because a lot of the fishing we usually do involves me setting everything up and then handing the rod off to him when we get a bite.

Goliath Grouper.

Nearly wiped out by fisherman, there is no fish more protected than the Goliath Grouper. Recently there was a college student who was arrested and may face jail time for catching and bothering a Goliath Grouper. They are impressive species, and have an nearly insatiable appetite and will hit on most baits. They were formerly known as Jewfish.

Black Marlin.

Black Marlin are the ultimate sportfish, requiring a large seafaring vessel and thousands of dollars in equipment to hope to land one. Outside of riding a Harley, there is nothing more coveted for men ages 55-75 than taking a picture with a black marlin (you don't eat black marlin, they are just caught in an exercise of pleasure, prestige, and pension spending).

A common shark found inshore, they are the traditional fish used to make British fish & chips. However, people think they're eating actual fish, not shark, so the shark is rarely doxxed.

Striped Sea Bass.

Striped Sea Bass are the prized fish to be had in the mid-Atlantic. Big and athletic, fishermen from Philly have been launching their boats up the Delaware River yelling, "EhA - you's guys, you coming fuckin striped sea bass fishing or what?!?!? Go Iigles!!!" for generations.

Bluntnose stingray.

Bluntnose stingray have some good fight, but of course nobody is all that excited about catching a stingray. However, the name Bluntnose is pretty awesome, so there's that.

Great White Shark.

You are rated Great White Shark not due to their fame or ferocity, but because male Great White Sharks have two dicks.

Whiting.

Whiting are common fish, rarely found being longer than 12 inches, that feature distinctive barbels that hang off of their chins that look a little bit like nutsacks.

Finger Mullet.

The term "finger mullet" refers to a variety of different species of small baitfish found in the salt water estuaries of the Lowcountry. However, these different species of small fish are indistinguishable at first sight, so all of them are referred to collectively as finger mullet. Finger mullets are best hooked through the eyes, which kind of sucks until you remember that nobody gives a fuck what happens to a finger mullet (or a pumo, for that matter).

Mango Grouper.

A favorite of the Florida Keys, these fish are rarely found outside of Florida and are favorites of Florida fisherman. Really, Mango Groupers might be the most 180 fish in all of the waters around Florida.

I feel bad that I already handed out snook, because snook is a good Florida fish as well. However, mango grouper flock to the keys, and the Keys are 180, so this works.

Trigger Fish.

Trigger fish are found around wrecks and generally caught while fishing for other species (like grouper or black sea bass). They are delicious and produce a lot of meat for their relatively diminutive size. Also, very strange looking.

Blackfin Tuna.

Also known as footballs, Blackfin Tuna are a prized fish to be caught on the east coast. While not as well known as their big brothers the bluefin tuna or yellowfin tuna, nor as big, blackfins have enormous fight in them and often require something heavier than a standard spinning rod to get on the boat. The meat is delicious, one of the best eating tunas. A totally 180 fish.

Tarpon.

Tarpon are big as hell and known for their amazing fight and jumping. They are not good eating, so they are just for fighting. The big ones have the enormous scales that are almost as big as a man's hand. Giant, silver, with huge gaping mouths, they are some of the most fun fish to catch (although worthless for eating).

Kingfish.

Kingfish, or king mackerel, is highly prized offshore fish. They are giant, fight like crazy, and are fun to catch. Along with Mahi Mahi and tuna, these are the most coveted of offshore fish. 180 fish.

Beeliner.

Beeliners, also known as vermillion snapper, are highly prized near shore to offshore fish. Delicious and very similar to red snapper, they school and can be caught two or three at a time using a chicken rig. There are spots known specifically to be Beeliner spots, and fishermen jealously guard the coordinates of where they believe Beeliners school. A fish that often gets overshadowed by other big near to offshore fish (like Cobia), Beeliners are 180 and everyone loves to catch and eat them.
