Cr. That we worry so much about marginal increase in CO2 when the climate record clearly shows we get slammed by astroids periodically that fuck shit up is nuts.

I read we dedicate the same amount to astroid detection as it would cost to run a mcdonald's franchise for a year.

Have fun breathing. Drinking. Eating. Growing crops. Not getting sick and dying. Making it with zero infrastructure in a world where everything is poisonous.

If you want to start a thread on something you know nothing about then that's fine. But the actual experts know humanity wouldn't have even been extincted when the US and Russia had several times more nukes than they do today.

I know that but I’m being contrarian to see the response. The experts From back then actually didn’t know all the ways we’d be fucked. The focus was on the immediate blast effects, not the massive die off from collateral problems like disease starvation changed weather patterns bringing the crap everywhere days and weeks down the road.

I don’t think we’d make it. Sure some people would ... for a while. But hard to go long w toxic everything.

Most of the arsenals would be destroyed on the ground/at sea. Second strikes would likely involve 10-20% of existing strategic arsenals. The species would survive though barely.

Imagine a scenario where someone survives the initial blast and then continues to make it in the global afterwffects.
