No. As long as you're not getting the faggot boomer "American Grande" series or whatever that costs $4k and has a picture of Mick Jagger carved into the wood or whatever. Mainline Fender guitars are quality for the money.

I'm not arrogant. You said all the best players play p basses. That's just not true today.

Off the top of my head some of my favorite players are p bassmos. James Jamerson, Steve Harris, Michael league, and karl alvarez.

But that's a far cry from "all the best players play p basses". I'm trying not to be aspie here but some notable non-p bassmos: geddy lee, jaco, marcus miller, stanley clarke, flea, victor wooten, les claypool and the list goes on.

Yeah. Especially with gibsons you pay a shit load for finish and binding. A couple years ago they went hard with the studio line. A US made les paul or es335 for $700 seemed unreal.

The Mexican instruments are absolutely fine they are using the exact same methods of production and quality control the difference is literally only the location.

you guys gonna cut a record soon?

IMO unless you actually play in a live band or are a session musician who makes money doing this, buying a high end electric guitar is peak boomer decadence

is the average age ITT like 65?

A gibson les paul emits pulses of energy even when unplugged and locked away in a case.

a new guitar immediately depreciates somewhere between 20-40%. which brings up another point for this guy: buy used. there are tons of barely used guitars on reverb and craigslist. you have nothing to worry about it. a fender is designed to be easily repaired. buy used, and if it's not awesome take it in for a $50 setup.

cr I bought a NOS telecaster last year for 60% of MAP. Not a scratch or ding on it, guy said it had just been sitting on the racks. buying instruments new is a sucker's game

Yeah this was a discontinued model (which is 95% identical to current models) so they can’t sell them as new even though they’re basically untouched

I carry and use my knives all the time. Somehow that is gayer than some asshole playing "smoke on the water" on $2,500 les paul.
