there doesnt seem to be much upside considering you can just dual enroll in math + cs classes at the local CC when your kid is in hs. a lot of these ppl who skip more than 1 grade seem to get rejected from top schools anyway so whats the point? And i havent even touched on the social aspect

unless your child is some legit generational genius why would anyone ever do this? skip a year of childhood to rush into a lifetime of wagecuckery? it’s nauseating to think about.

My parents thought I was a "legit generational genius" and I went to HYP at 16 and became a stupid biglawyer who poasts on XO. I deeply resent my parents for ruining my life.

Delayed start kindergarten at age 7 -> be the Tall Kid in the class from Grade K to Grade 10 -> Overdeveloped Ego -> Sales Chad $$$ for Life.

I think it makes some kids really egotistical when they shouldn't be and generally people end up wasting years at some point anyway, there's little sense in "saving years"

I know some guy who skipped grades and boasted about how young he was for what he was doing (startup CEO/founder with VC backing). dude ended up working for 10 years on his BS startup that went into bankruptcy and got bought for scraps/some of its technology. so what did "saving time" do for him exactly, just convinced him to bet 10 years on some foolish idea that didn't pay off

Shouldn't let them skip. They have an advantage grade and test score wise entering later, so they get in to better universities. Also helps with sports to be older and taller

Yes, but only in case where kid is bored enough that it is damaging his school performance and happiness, and school won’t individualize with gifted shit I would first look for a better school because skipping tends to fuck kids over for sports and socialization. But a lot of academically strong kids are already pretty fucked in these areas and better to skip then to spend a year fighting with the teacher because he is bored.
