Older lawyers would throw cases to younger guys not even in the same firm to help them get going. Obviously it was very important to be active in your community so people would bring cases to you. But it was a different time. 100 lawyers was a really big law firm. Lawyers were not all assholes and avoided scorched earth tactics. Nobody made as much money as today. However, biglaw still sucked.
