Arlington is completely full of 40ish childless couples making around $200k household income. They all got downayment help from MC/UMC parents. it’s very affordable around there with that profile, cheaper than most coastal metro living, and the commute is fine. Rich, olds, gay gentrifiers (so rich Andy old, mostly), blacks, immigrants, and turbo striver lawyers all insist on living in the district. Date: January 16th, 2021 1:51 PM Author: Honey-headed Rough-skinned Degenerate Indirect Expression there is a huge range of housing stock there by design. it took me 30 seconds on Zillow to find a half dozen freestanding homes with 2-3 beds and acceptable location, all between $500k and $600k. it’s not a bad investment in that area and like I said, this is middle class/upwardly mobile UMC at it’s most robust, so many people get help from family or they’re on a second/third home and carried some equity. it’s drastically more affordable and still within reach for public emplyees. they’re driving hondas and priuses, don’t necessarily have private school costs, etc. $550k on a house is very doable. Government workers under 40 tend to live in places that are fairly far away, especially if they are trying to raise a family. Some people live an hour or more away in VA or MD. I’ve met people that live in WV and commute. |
