Partners there work a shitload. I worked with Clary and Sandra Goldstein when she was there. Both worked like animals. Sandra probably bills over 3K a year every year. |

Most of the business comes from corporate clients who end up in litigation later. It is more important to be liked by the partnership and reliable/smart. Also they have been desperate for females and minorities in the past 5 years. (They had all female partnership classes in 2016 and 2018 and just made two black female partners including this one.) It’s fine. She’s smart, probably smarter than me. But making partner at Cravath is difficult as fuck when you have to earn it against whites/Asians. I know that when John Xi makes partner there, he’s fucking brilliant and a hustler. You just know that when it’s a black person the rules and expectations aren’t the same. If the world doesn’t want me to assume that black doctors/lawyers/etc aren’t equals, then they’ll need to stop promoting them unequally. |

I think if anything AA helped get her the law review position and the Cravath summer, which got her Patterson, which all combined got her the sweet DOJ gig, which then all combined got her partner. I definitely think AA helped plenty. But if she was a white guy she’d be doing well. Either of counsel or junior partner at some firm in the v50. |
