things introduced in the 80s, a very modern decade indeed

oh yeah, and also string theory became dominant frontier physics, and hence knowledge.
popularizations of science became big and made such people celebrities.

not so great, i am kind of directionless now. this meth stuff has began showing its real face. it was lying to me before, i cannot be a normal person anymore, and i do not have the super powers of concentration or curiosity like i had then (i guess that's what you would call motivation) and so there is really no will to do math. and to top it off, i am stuck in mind loops every day where i go over lists of things over and over and over, which i used to do before, like to calm me down or something or i dunno, cause im autistic, but now its like a running joke. it lied to me since day one, laid siege on my brain, and then went to work discovering every point where it could exploit, and now it is clamping up its aggressiveness, as if it is apparently not afraid to start revealing more of what it really is...this is something very sinister, not some neutral chemical process.

porno reels have been traded around since the advent of film. wikipedia even has one from 1915:

home projectors were a bit pricier than VHS systems, but many people had them.

Video game systems began in the 70s. The Atari 2600 came out in 1977 and that was already the second wave of consoles.
Then again, as we think of them culturally, "the 80s" was really about 1977-1987 (punk rock, Star Wars, etc up through the end of the Reagan presidency)

Anime was extremely fringe in the 80s and I don't thing there was hardly any officially released in the US until the early 90s. It was mostly traded via underground tape-trading networks with fansubs.
I am not counting imported kids' shows (Voltron, etc.) as anime.
