I think that's what makes some great shows great. Not everything is perfectly curated. There is a bit of randomness that makes it more believable.
Also Kim and Jimmy are directly responsible for Chuck and Howard's deaths. I think this is going to further push Jimmy into being amoral. He doesn't deal with things, just like he never dealt with chucks death. He's just going to bury it so he can live with himself.
Next to Kim, Howard did more for Jimmy than anyone. Sticking his neck out for him at Davis and Main. Offering him a spot at HHM. Howard was one of the only truly good people on the show. |

Howard went along with Chuck’s refusal to help Jimmy’s legal career. Howard knew Jimmy was smart and hard working and he really respected Jimmy. He nicknamed Jimmy Charlie Hustle. I think he believed that with strong mentoring Jimmy could be a competent, ethical attorney. But Howard was too weak to stand up to Chuck. So Jimmy was left on his own without any strong mentors so he defaulted to what he’d always done to survive and went off the rails. How Albequerque supports 4-5 "Biglaw" firms is baffling but I've never practiced outside NYC V10 so maybe these are midlaw? There are local firms that are equally respected for banking/SEC compliance and class actions?
The actors' ages show badly.
Chuck's feud with Jimmy is clearly the only thing driving the show, but I feel like I've spent hours of monologues in Chuck's darkened house with him wrapped in a space blanket. I don't think I could go through another season unless they turn that around.
Plenty of other commentary but Odenkirk, who I've watched since Mr. Show, is getting very old. And his success with bedding Wexler is really a stretch were it not for his 'way with people'. |
