Mods, I just can’t have this guy using that moniker on here. It’s going to mess the board up if he doesn’t change it around. I know the board is scared of him because he’s more than a loose cannon but I’m seriously going to have to go to the host etc if he won’t stop impersonating an atty on here with that moniker.

Son, I just can’t let you do that. You’ve got to stop.

How could I have forgotten about the incredible largesse of airline carriers in allowing for such easy and flexible points redemption

Unless you're spending $1,000,000k per annum like drakemallard, "points" are like pissing in the wind. A credit card bonus gets you like ONE one-way routing in intl J, but the people boasting about using "points" all do like 30 round trips a year, which doesn't check out at all. Most of us don't have the flexibility to do "open jaws" or whatever; usually it's a very specific and tight itinerary, and the options given to you are all like "300k points + $249"

I’d spend 10K to fly business to Paris or London when I was at a firm NBD. The client preferred refundable because so many meetings and interviews got cancelled. It wasn’t unusual for senior or case-critical people to have 50-100K of travel per year. Pre-pandemic euros would not do video meetings at all.

Cathay Pacific

of course every airline has different biz products on different planes so its also a bit of the luck of the draw. even though korea is last, it's still a good product.

I am paying full price for biz class to Japan and Korea Prestige Class was like $13k which was absurd, JAL was also very high. Cathay was slightly cheaper than ANA but the reviews were not great - I've never flown Cathay before. I should've added Asiana in there too, but I've only flown them on short international flights. I flew JAL economy a few times long haul and it was a total disaster, truly awful experience, but I'll try to look into them if I can cop a free business class.

on domestic flight, they give elites free upgrades if space is available. The handful of times I roll the dice on this/year, I clear 90+% of the time, but sometimes you get PWNED, usually because I am with my wife and there's 1 seat available and we are 1 and 2 on the list so we give it to #3 and sit together. For projected 2024 flights, I am rolling the dice on one domestic segment, so hopefully it clears!

Same. Doesn’t seem worth it unless you make $1 million a year or something

i dislike being in transit and see the flight as simply a means to an end. I never feel cramped or uncomfortable on a plane and don't think a few inches of extra room would change my experience or make me want to enjoy the flight as though it were part of the vacation and justify paying significantly more.

I rarely do. I sleep very easily on flights even in Economy, so it's all the same to me. I'm usually asleep a good 80% of the flight every time, day or night.

out the window. in first you're positioned at a remove from the edge of the cabin so harder to see out

with 3 young kids besides being a total waste of $ domestic first doesn't make sense bc you end up with one stuck next to some weirdo

I’m biz/first about 2/3 of the time, mostly from upgrades. My company will only straight up pay for business when the flight is over 10 hours (to be fair that’s when you need it most).

I've traveled from the US to Asia with budget airlines stopping multiple times

Norse Airways to Europe, Ryanair to get to Greece, Scoot to Asia

Ive done this with a 55L backpack without having to pay any check-in or carry-on luggage
