He claims all the bond companies require liquid collateral like cash, bonds and stocks. Why wouldn’t they accept other collateral? Even if they’re less senior security holders on his other assets, assuming that Trump isn’t leveraged to the hilt, wouldn’t there be enough available equity? I mean the guy claims to be worth 10 billion personally. Shouldn’t the enterprise be able to come up with 450m collateral?

Anyone who provides a bond to Trump is obviously going to be subjected to retaliatory action by the government. They're not stupid.

Because he’s notorious for not paying bills and he’s over leveraged on all of his properties. Any new creditor is going to have to wait in line and there’s no chance he’s going to pay back a $450 million bond.

Like all "real estate" moguls he is leveraged to the tits and everybody he has talked to knows there is zero chance there will be enough money left to repay the bond amount by the time all the other priority lienholders are paid. If you had half a billion dollars to invest, why in the world would you bet it on this of all things?

Yes - no idea why Trump can't secure a bond for these routine cases.

NY has a robust history of requiring companies to pony up $450 million for loans that were fully paid off. I have no idea why companies aren't lining up to take this risk and the almost immediate cries that they're in bed with Putin from MSNBC....
