There really is a housing shortage, and we should build enough housing to bring the units/household ratio back in line with what it was a few decades ago--not just nationwide, but specifically in areas with lots of jobs. Redditors of course confuse cause and effect and think high prices are due to investment firms buying housing, while of course investment firms are buying housing because they think the shortage will persist. Redditors also hate the idea of private housing development, which is an entirely counterproductive attitude. 2. Education Costs. University really does cost too much. The federal government should stop underwriting an unlimited amount of debt and impose costs constraints through limitations on federal student loans. Private student loans in excess of federal limitation would be dischargeable in bankruptcy like any other unsecured debt. 3. Drugs. Meth and fentanyl really are ruining a huge number of people's lives. I'm suspicious that most people can't handle marijuana either. 4. Social Media. Social media makes the propagation of midwit "ideas" far, far too frictionless. This has resulted in midwit proles having a grossly inaccurate sense of what lifestyle they should have. Compounding the issue, they endlessly share midwit "memes" misdiagnosing the problem (which is really just that success for someone from a prole background requires hard work and, at least equally importantly, carefully planning, a great deal of discipline and a realistic assessment of what can be accomplished). |
