"high speed rail" only makes sense in a few US cities

ie ones that already have decent public transportation
that's why it works so well in places like Japan
how is Nashville to St Louis or whatever better than driving? You end up in downtown St Louis without a car so if you don't know anyone there you'd still need some way to get to and from the train station or a rental car
it's likely not going to be that much cheaper than a plane ticket, would cost more than driving and take about as long

how do people get so worked up about this stuff and treat it like it's a real "thing" that's actually worth discussing
until we kill or expel all niggers, we can't have high speed rail, period. the engineering doesn't matter. the finances don't matter. the politics don't matter. the technology doesn't matter. the only thing that matters on this topic is whether or not niggers exist
it's not worth considering, analyzing, talking about, etc, until niggers are no longer in this country, and you just look like a retard if you're taking this topic seriously
how is this even a discussion at all?

Yes, I’d rather take one exit off a highway vs having to drive all the way into shithole mfh and pay out the ass for parking near grand central where my car will actually get vandalized.
Out of the 23m+ who live in the nyc metro area only 8m or so live in the actual city limits. That includes ppl who live in queens and states island and shit who would have an easier time getting to the airports. Rail is a stupid wet dream for a small minority of urban faggots.

hasn't this been analyzed to death? rail systems need to be optimized to high-speed or slow-freight. although the US could have had reasonable high-speed corridors from Richmond to Boston and from LA to SF, almost nowhere else in the US does high-speed make sense. on the other hand, slow-freight makes fantastic sense for coal and ag for most of the country, especially when that connects to the Mississippi. so basically we have the system we need.
otoh, the hyperloop idea was intriguing for DC-NY and LA-SF. but high-speed rail? no.

it wouldve worked in upstate ny along the old erie canal route (buffalo-rochester-syracuse-albany-nyc). but theres been so much population drain i dont think it would make up the costs.
