Iran's only experience with chemical weapons use was after years of being gassed by Iraq they began limited retaliatory attacks as a deterrent...
The US on the other hand has a lot of experience, as everyone from Germany to Vietnam could tell you... Even had the 1st Gas Regiment at one point.
