I thought the point was that millennials were paying $40 a head for brunch and getting ripped off as they paid for avacado toast, 2 mimosas and an mochaccino that were all marked up 900+%. Ie whatever one might say about boomer decadence, at least their greatest gen parents had transferred enough depression-inspired cheapness to them that they could avoid obvious ripoffs and when they splurged they at least got status symbols out of it like BMWs.
