The thing is, the U.S. isn't. The U.S. was lucky in that the Pentagon actually tries to prepare for major wars and luckily decided to pivot to Asia a decade ago so our major weapons systems and upcoming procurement is really tuned to fighting an air-sea battle in another hemisphere.
But if our enemies think we are weak, then that's a problem too.
The likelihood of a miscalculation on the part of our enemies is really high.
