Garage fridge door needs a new hinge. Repairman who I’ve used before charged me $59 to diagnose the issue (we thought it was a bad seal), then said he will purchase the part and quote me for the repair. The $59 would then be used as a credit towards the repair.
Two days later he informs me the part is discontinued and that he will find a workaround.
I think I might just get a new used fridge and move on. I texted him yesterday asking for a status update and he didn’t respond.
My question is: does he owe me a refund for the $59? After all if the repair is factually impossible his services are not needed.
