So many details of that dream. Lots of autumn leaves and crappy shelters.

Good times, man. I had an IRL memorable camping trip with college buds and GFs. We climbed Mt. Lafayette in NH. It was spring and about 40 degrees. It rained like a son of a bitch and snowed up the mountain. We didn't have tents but only sleeping bags and ended up lying under our cars in our sleeping bags trying to stay dry. GF and I discovered there is not enough ground clearance under a 1960 Plymouth Valiant to have sex. Must have been really skinny then to fit at all. Great trip.

The guy who owned the car was in it with his GF, plus another guy. More about that trip is coming back. We ran out of gas on the way up to NH. The other two guys hitched into town to get gas while I stayed with the girls. A motorcycle gang stopped to check on us to see if we were OK. We were all hippies in those days. The guy who owned the car became a theoretical physicist then went into experimental biology. He's still at Cornell. He left MIT for grad school at Stanford but returned to MIT quickly because he thought Stanford "lacked intellectual rigor." His girl friend was a math major and has disappeared off the grid. She was hot in a grungy hippie way. My girlfriend became a psychology professor and the singleton died in poverty at 65, still a singleton. At the time we had no inkling of the future - we were just having fun. The guy with the Valiant used to play the guitar. I played the banjo and we would make up stupid songs and play and sing them together. "Granny got run over by a big black car" was one of the songs. We used to do "Old Blue," too. Sorry. I'm rambling. It's late.
