Asked my uncle at nintendo this and he emailed me back:

Yeah, that is basically fair.

So far, Nintendo seems to be leaning much harder on:

Switch 2 Edition upgrades for existing hits,

cross gen releases,

and a smaller set of true Switch 2 only first party software, rather than rolling out a pile of brand new flagship exclusives right away. Nintendo's own current pages are full of things like Switch 2 Edition releases and upgrade packs, such as Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, plus upgraded versions of older Switch games.

So if your point is "where are the brand new Mario, Zelda, Smash, Kart level exclusives," that criticism is pretty justified from the lineup visible right now. The official materials I found show some Switch 2 only software, but not a huge pile of major new Nintendo first party tentpoles.

That also weakens the argument for aggressive Switch 2 exclusivity. If Nintendo itself is mostly relying on enhanced editions and a gradual transition, then third parties have even more reason to keep targeting the older Switch install base too. That is an inference from the current release mix, not something Nintendo states outright.

So, bluntly:

you are not wrong,

the exclusives case looks thinner than people expected,

and Nintendo appears to be pacing the generation change instead of forcing it fast.

Switch 2 is not "underpowered" at all. It smokes most of the Handheld Consoles out there, especially for the price, you would have to spend more than double to get near the "power" of the Switch 2 in the Handheld world.

The Switch 2 is the only new console where the hype trailer runs at a higher frame rate than the games will.
