do you care about your ruby code using a lot of ruby-specific practices

a lot of my ruby looks like C and doesn't follow ruby convention

95% of what i do today is JavaScript. but when i do use Ruby i use idiomatic Ruby. otherwise autists will point out that it’s not idiomatic Ruby. also more bugs likely and harder to work with if it’s not idiomatic

rubocop is the auto formatter correct? does it catch non-idiomatic code that's still equivalent?

i just scrolled down to see "explicit return" i do that all the time. should you really use "each" instead of for loops? some of this sounds like flame. so if i open a high quality Ruby or Rails codebase I'll hardly see any "for" usage?

rubocop will catch a lot of things and teach you idiomatic Ruby relatively well. still would be good to read a book on Ruby though

any half-decent Ruby project will use rubocop and follow a lot of what’s in that style guide. i’ve never used a conventional for loop with Ruby. Ruby autists will shit up your PR with comments if you have for loops, explicit returns, etc.
