In that epic 180^180 scene where the Rohirrim arrive and bravely charge down against Mordor outside of Minas Tirith?

It was more epic when the evil men riding oliphants appeared shortly after that and you realized that Rohan wasn't going to save the day.

This was when I started to pick up on the beginnings of the vile "wokeness" trend . . . articles criticizing the dichotomy between the "men of the west" and the "otherized" forces of Sauron.

was 180AF, especially precursors leading up to it - with Pippin eating with that evil emperor letting shit decay. Goddamn LOTR is just 180 all around. The blood obligations of men to men from pre-civilized times is really a lost moment. EDIT: fuck i haven't watched in forever, this happened post-two towers. Must rewatch.

also, JFC what a series.

It was insane. First when it seemed all was lost there were audible gasps throughout my theater, which was packed (some people were even standing, lining the sides of the theater). Then everyone fell absolutely silent, more silent than I've ever heard a group of people be (and I've been to many funerals and memorial services). Then when we realized what was happening on the screen everyone broke out in massive applause and cheers. It took over ten minutes for the theater to calm down. We missed some dialogue and the theater had to actually wind the movie back and play it again so we could hear what we missed, but we ended up just applauding and cheering all over again. It was crazy. After the movie was over so many of the people in the theater just couldn't go home, and so we all went out together for dinner. I'm still friends with many of them today. Crazy scene. Second only to Randy Quaid showing up in the F/A-18 at the end of Independence Day.
