it is crazy to me how unfazed ‘principled conservatives’ are about trump’s use of military resources in states and expansion of federal police powers at the cost of eroding individual liberty. he’s also obviously swinging toward neocon foreign policy. you guys are all ready to step in line for the total depletion of state government authority and state’s rights because one president loves to engage in public theater. and he’s dragging us into what will be expensive and burdensome foreign entanglement to placate corporate interests, which is something XO at least used to have the good sense to reject (and shitlibs also love doing this shit, trump is just doing it in a belligerent fashion that is alienating our geopolitical allies).
i always understood that the type of keyboard warrior edgy+cool online dorks we have at places like XO just support outrageous and dangerous policy online because they get a little dopamine kick from it. but this is happening out IRL now too. i am pretty surprised at how unprincipled most of these ‘conservatives’ are, i always tried to have more respect and perspective for their point of view. clearly they don’t give a fuck about the animating concepts of american conservatism and probably never did. cons are submitting to an authoritarian federal government like it’s the second coming. starting to understand why it is you fags were always quietly stanning for putin — you crave a strong man’s boot on the back of your necks.
