You have one year from today to hie to South Africa to start your journey. Once you're on the clock, you cannot use any vehicles or you forfeit, other than for water crossings, for which you can use a ferry.

If you make it on foot to Alexandria within a year of starting, you get $10M tax free.

You'll have a visa for every country in Africa. That doesn't mean that local brigands won't demand illegitimate payments or otherwise harass you.

You can quit any time you like, but you won't teleport home or anything like that. The journey is happening irl, so if you get hurt on the walk, you get hurt irl.

Do you accept?

This cannot be done in one year, solely on foot.

The most direct route is untenable due to civil strife. I assume you can stay in hotels/hostels, etc.?

According to Google Maps, it would take 90 days of continuous walking. Adding in sleep/breaks/avoiding certain areas, this seems possible.

It could definitely be done in one year. Google Maps shows 6,000 miles on this route. That's less than 16 miles/6 hours of walking a day.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/PTfn9yZtmp3pNiSL9

You can walk through an area with "civil strife." Plenty of videos on YouTube of people visiting South Sudan Somalia, etc.

Sure, you can stay in a hotel, hostel, local's house, pretty much wherever you want.

Easy yes. I pay about $100k for protection to Lake Victoria & boat the rest of the voyage up the Nile & it's various tributaries. I'd probably stop in Aswan just because it's 180.

Don't fight the hypo. You need to walk the whole way, other than water crossings. Not sailing 1000 miles down the Nile.

How are you arranging this "protection"? Do you have the money up front? $100k only a few hundred dollars per day over the whole journey.

No camels. You need to walk the whole way, except for water crossings, for which you can take a ferry.

If a camel can walk across the Sahara, why can't you? Anyway, by that point, you could walk along the Nile.

There are some very desolate stretches of Sudan and Egypt where you'd have to walk hundreds of miles through the desert with no towns in between. Those seem like certain death. I'd be much more worried about those parts than about getting killed by random Africans.

i could do it.

i do a lot of backpacking. i could definitely do the miles. there isn't a lot of elevation changes.

the danger aspect is ljl. you guys think people are being murked in afriKKa at random. no, retard peace corp birdshits go there without any problem. a dude of reasonable build and street smarts will be fine. you can avoid most of the dangerous areas:

cape town -> pretoria -> zimbabwe -> zambia -> tanzania -> kenya -> ethiopia -> eritrea -> saudi arabia. from there it's a fucking luxury cakewalk.

$10m wouldn't be worth it for the non-zero risk, costs not being reimbursed, and time away from friends/family/career. i'd do it for $100m. but i could 100% do it.

lmfao your ancestors did this shit with real buckwild dindus. retarded cumskins so this shit all the time and don't get murked. you can avoid the jungles and sahara. plenty of towns in between, most of them even have hostels and shit lmfao.

Call it get killed at random, call it get killed in a robbery or kidnapping, it's a serious risk either way.

But if you don't think so, why not go for it? $10M is a lot of money.

even if you could guarantee no harm and i would complete the journey, it would be very unpleasant. im 100% confident that, gun to my head, i could complete the AT. yet i have little desire to thru hike it. a week or so a year backpacking is enough for me. and that's pristine american forest alongside pleasant white people.

your journey could be easily done with few nights in the wilderness going from dindu village to another. in between that it's mostly nothing. then add in the opportunity cost. a year of my life gone, no family, no friends, career sidelined.

$10m isn't worth it.

I’d treat it like a backpacking through hike in terms of preparedness. But there are some rough stretches of desert where you’d have trouble managing hydration and, to a much lesser extent, food.

Looks like your best bet is to hug the east coast through Mozambique/Malawi and then start tracing the lakes toward the Nile to help you get past the worst of the desert areas and avoid the worst of the East African dysfunction in Somalia.

I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?

Also, I wouldn’t take the time away from my young kids for this $$
