it's so easy to let the house become a complete shithole, and it's exhausting to keep up with it.
just seems like a never ending hamster wheel to prevent the house from going to hell, and wastes so much precious time at the end of the workday.
it's all little stuff but it all adds up. loading and unloading dishwasher, cleaning the shit that doesnt go in the dishwasher, wiping down the kitchen countertops, sweeping/vacuuming under where the kids eat, opening delivery boxes and putting shit away, breaking down the boxes and taking them to the garbage, taking the garbage out on trash days etc.

tbf, we have plenty of breaks -- my parents watch them a ton. we're extremely lucky in that respect. and it's STILL a fucking grind. i dont know how 2 income families who dont have the help we do even survive.
a housekeeper coming every other week doesnt deal with the daily grind.
takeout? rofl there's no kosher restaurants here.

Some people are giving you shit, but it is true. A lot of life is really just low level maintenance to keep things running in some way shape or form. Easy to go crazy when you look at the full picture:
--Need to get 7+ hours of sleep to have energy for the day
--Need to go to a gym to do exercise to stay physically fit (because your job is sitting in front of a screen all day)
--Need to eat healthy food and possibly even track what you eat to stop from getting a gut
--Need to cook your meals (to stay healthy and manage spending) which means you have to clean dishes and all that bullshit
--Need to clean up around the house so it doesn't get out of hand
--Need to clean up after your kids
--Oh wow would you look at that its 10pm. Better get to sleep so you can do it all over again tomorrow!!

exactly. now imagine some other random shit comes up, further wasting your time. plus we have a baby.
wife and i have decided not to sacrifice on any of those things -- we both want to be healthy and well rested, and not live in squalor. it's exhausting.
wife feels like she barely has any quality time with the kids, and the evenings with them are just us engaged in slavery to feed them and get them ready for bed and in bed and to clean up their toys.

yes, we both work. both wfh which makes the grind much better. plus we have a home gym. so easier to eat healthy lunches and work out.
and as mentioned above, we have lots of family help. it's still an insane grind.
im hoping it chills out soon. the baby stuff is obviously making things worse.
