The real Austerlitz was an enormous battle, but in the movie it looks bizarrely small, like just a couple thousand men are fighting it. There's basically zero sense of weight to the battle or why it's important. It's considered one of the most astoundingly impressive victories in all of military history, but there's zero sense of why -- it's just another boring surprise ambush victory like you've seen in ten different movies. |
