He'd see me get up and struggle out of his dog bed and Id be like, "Im coming right back, dood, Ill be right back, promise", but he'd force himself up and creakily hop up the few steps. Follow me into kitchen, keep me company there, and then follow me back.
Man, if he were here today Id grab any food at all from the fridge and take him outside and feed him and goof around with him. He LOVED when you pretended to be a dog and acted aggressive like you wanted to fight. He found it so fucking funny and he'd act all aggressive back but you could tell he was laughing his ass off.

What a life of denial, me always regulating the dos and donts of his eats and drinks. If he were alive today, we'd have a feast from the fridge right here and now. But he's dead. All of it--humor and play, the romp and the prance, gone. No smile in a dead dog's eye.

I used to sprint around the office w mine and then when I’d get to a straightaway before my dog did I’d duck into a cubicle. Then the dog would come back around, looking for me, pass me, then I’d jump out from behind him and and surprise him. He thought this was hilarious. |
