My Max bench is maybe getting 225 up a couple three times.
So when I work chest, I usually rep 205
I was at a hotel the other day and obviously they didn’t have a bench press set up, but they had a flat bench with dumbbells. So I benched with dumbbells.
I was super sore afterwards, and it felt like such a better workout. Felt like it required using all of this stability, and different muscle groups. More satisfying than a bar.
So I’ve quit traditional bench press for now and I’m using dumbbells.
But here’s the question. I’m using like 60 pounds on each hand. If you want to bench the same kind of weight you would do with a bar, how the fuck do you handle it? I can’t imagine positioning some hundred pound dumbbell in each hand. Do guys who aren’t super lifters do that? Or do they just get handed the dumbbell once they are down in position?
Or is it just a reality that if you use dumbbells, you won’t push the same kind of weight as a bar?

you don't push the same weight, etc, something to do with "stabilizers" etc
I go up to sets of 10 with 80-90lbs on incline dumbbell, I doubt that translates to 160 pounds on straight bar incline
