There has long been talk about Azerbaijan wanting to take a big chunk of northern Iran, since 20 million or so ethnic Azeris live there. They may have decided now would be the time to do it. Can't think of a better time, with the two most powerful air forces in the world giving cover. |

Probably not going to happen, but it's more plausible than the Kurdish scenario since the Iranian Kurds are very weak militarily.
