Like I even have met some retired pro athletes who drink all day and gamble on their phone and have a trophy wife and they're just dumb as nails but I don't judge them as harshly because I'm like damn this nigga won the World Series. Like that's such a rare accomplishment. So even when their lives are pathetic in middle age and they're coasting you at least know that at one point in their lives they were a tiger, an animal.
And RSF knows what I'm about to say too because we've hashed it out before and I'm not gonna get into a comically long debate but he knows that I resent nepo babies in general. I grew up around a lot of em. And I find em all repulsive. Some of the worst ones are just people whose parents bought em a multi million dollar home and they still have to work like a low 6 figure lunch pail kind of job but they go home to a mega mansion. Those people are just ghastly to me and it's really the arrogance and the attitude... I have never met one who didn't fundamentally deep down feel like they earned it and deserve to have it all which makes me puke.
But yeah of all the nepos I know, RSF is by far the richest and the most hedonistic. And he poasts about it all the time which annoys me. If I didn't see it on the main page every day I would never think about him again. |

But not everyone is going to become Kennedy, Plato, or Lavoisier, and failure to live an exceptional life is not itself wrongdoing. There is a large space between heroic public service and moral failure.
Maybe his life is not the highest form of human flourishing. That still does not explain why it is shameful, or why receiving an inheritance creates a specific obligation to dedicate one’s life to public achievement. |

You either have to cuck to survive or you have to be a self starter and be really special to succeed at a high enough level to live the way he wants to live. Money changes people, and when you don't earn it yourself you become accustomed and entitled to a lifestyle you couldn't produce on your own. This is true of most nepo babies not just RSF. What makes him unique is he got a massive bag when he was really young, halting any possibility of personal growth. We don't know what type of person he would be if he had to work in law just to survive and couldn't afford to be on a permanent vacation. My hypothesis is that he would be a lot kinder, more humble person if he wasn't gifted the bag so soon in life. Most people who are forced to go to work every day develop some semblance of humility. When you skip that phase entirely and go straight to the massive reward endgame you bypass any hope of turning out like a normal person.
As I've commented on earlier ITT, it also fucks with my sense of cosmological justice when a low IQ retard makes off with that much money. To be clear, I also am completely against Charles III, Rama X, and the Emperor of Japan. I think inbred retards with the legal right to be rich forever is an inherently bad thing. Long live the Republic.
Postscript: Rama X is substantially dumber, wealthier, and more corrupt than RSF and it's a crime in Thailand to criticize him. But he doesn't poast on XO so I never have to think about him. |

(2) On a personal level, it's not like the guy has self-destructive behaviors; he doesn't do drugs or drink uncontrollably (had to be a little more qualified with that one) or even spend at a level that's unsustainable. Dude's not hunter biden. Probably the 'worst' thing about how he's spending his life is not getting married or having kids. While I do think a lot of wealthy fathers would be disappointed in kids like RSF, that speaks more poorly of those dads than it does of RSF.
(3) On a societal level, the world was a *better* place back when we had a robust leisure class. Read pre-WWI social history, or just pick up a p.g. wodehouse book. This is a genuinely persuasive factor to me; if the RSF lifestyle were some new thing that corresponded with every other part of society going to shit I'd probably be on the anti-RSF train. But it's the opposite: the world is going to shit precisely because of unbearable entitled (but hardworking) strivers who now feel in their bones that they EARNED their place in the world (they didn't). |

I kind of came up with these off the cuff (and they're certainly not equal, which I hate to do when I make lists), but I have sort of 2 overarching points. First, when a society *relies* on something, it's more likely to actually work. Out of well-intentioned notions of 'fuck richie rich', we moved to a society that doesn't rely on the carnegies and vanderbilts to keep us out of the slums, but as a result our AI/SV barons don't feel the slightest sense of obligation to us. Second, and more controversially, it isn't really all that great to be even ultra-rich today. Ppl get mad about the second point, because we have some of the worst *nominal* income inequality in human history, but the reality is that we live in a world where I -- a UMC lawyer -- live AT WRORST 95% as good of a life as the average billionaire. I can vacation in the maldives, have the best chefs in the world cook for me, my kids go to the same schools as billionaires', etc. If you asked me to trade lives with elon musk (let alone 70-y/o bill gates) I'd say no immediately just because he's so much older than I am and will die so much sooner, and his very slightly better life wouldn't come close to compensating for that. My biggest limitation on leisure is from having to work, which is true of these billionaires, too; you could quibble with that by saying "elon musk doesn't actually *have* to work; he could quit and RSF it up for the rest of his life, while you obviously can't", but (1) a lot of what makes elon musk more important than me is tied to his work, and more importantly (2) the personality traits (drive, obsession, etc.) that get you to the top these day (but not pre-WWI) make it so that you CAN'T actually stop working.
It's the UMC, college professors, etc. who are today's Landed Gentry, not really the actually rich, who just aren't much better off. We should aggressively shame the UMC, ESPECIALLY the stinky turdskins and people who moved from massachusetts to Austin to make their UMC blood money. |
