I've been 100% solo for years now. I love the freedom/flexibility. But I sort of miss the camraderie I had at the firm, working with coworkers. My parents retired and closed their business too and it's fun to look back on everything they built, their employees, their buildings, their products, etc.
When it's time for me to hang it up, I am going to have absolutely no shared memories whatsoever. I am busy enough where I could hire people but that's extra aggravation and not worth it imo

I do get what you mean though. When I was in biglaw a senior attorney told me, re dealing with solo pltf counsel, that something to remember is that they're lonely and they're happy to have someone to talk to. That had never occurred to me at the time but I certainly get it now. This is useful advice on the defense side, and turns out to be true.
