The Brits tore it down and then “fixed” it by slathering concrete over all the stones and then put it back together in a different way that they thought looked prettier.

it has been under a process of reconstruction between 1901 - 1950’s and thus is a second-hand construction and 20th Century interpretation, at best. The major reconstruction of the larger standing-stones may or may not be accurate - no one actually knows.

To quote Cambridge University archeological archivist and leading Stonehenge author Christopher Chippindale, “Not much of what we see at Stonehenge hasn't been touched in some way!”

What you see nowadays is a 20th Century replica of the original by the heritage industry, but certainly NOT the actual creation of prehistoric people.

Curiously Stonehenge is mentioned in the same way in school text and historical books, the History channel and National Geographic - but strangely there is never any mention that the stones were removed and filled with concrete bases and cranes were used to erect the former ancient site.

I visited Stonehenge years ago and there was NO mention of this. I actually thought I was looking at an amazing relic which had stood since the earliest days of man, not a phony Disneyland version.
