Seattle’s Commuter Benefits Ordinance requires employers to provide subsidized ORCA cards for public transit. A great perk, except Jerry, who lives a block from the store, demanded one anyway.
Today, he clocked in late, claiming “transit delays.” When I reminded him he walks to work, he smirked and said, “The law doesn’t say I have to use it, friend. Just that you have to pay for it.”
HR, predictably, sided with Jerry. Tabitha, between sips of her daily Big Gulp, shrugged. “Legally, Evan, he’s entitled to it. Don’t be petty.”
Spent the shift dealing with Jerry’s mess while he sat in the breakroom Googling “best ORCA card hacks.” Clocked out late, whispered, “Yes, friend. This is fine.”
