I took his advice about moving, about getting a work from home job, about pursuing out-of-the-box options to try and set myself up. It is incredibly difficult to just drop everything I am doing and go in a different direction though. I don’t have any fall back. I have a family and a house to pay for. It’s not like I can just borrow $2m from a family member if it all goes belly up. There are some very real constraints to just quitting my line of work entirely to open up my own practice solo with no leads or anything. Neither of you would do that either. Also, I really think we should just hang out and discuss because I don’t want to be too specific about all that I’ve done. But I have been working at this. And, I’ve come a very long way in the last 3 years. You accuse me of not changing at all. It’s not fair. Also, need I remind me that I have taken my whole family to visit your brother’s grave? I could have stayed at the beach sipping Mai tai, but no, we piled in the cab and went up there to pay our respects and do something outside the lines a bit because I felt like it was important. |
